DAY OF PADDY TRANSPLANT
¼^yqax dk fnu^&yhyk/kj txwMh+ English translation by GPBahuguna ½
Wreaths of fresh cloud on naked peaks
climb down on spiraling hill path like flock of young sheep
The fields nestle close to each other like palm placed on palm
Their slender figures are bent like turn of river
The fingers planting paddy saplings
The flourish of their hands jingle with silver bracelets.
The celebration of drum beat goes on the hilltop
The bullocks of hope pull on furrows of life
Splash of water overlaps boundaries of the churning field
Soaking corners of earth's green scarf with mud.
